It all started in 2014 when our own developers were frustrated with the lack of quality Git GUIs across all major operating systems. We set out on a mission to create a visualization tool for Git that didn’t suck!
What started out as a bold new Git GUI in 2015 when we released the Kraken for the first time, has since grown into a powerful set of collaborative Git productivity tools used by 2.5 million developers in 75,000 organizations.
GitKraken makes daily Git workflows understandable, visual, and perhaps even just a little bit…fun! In addition to making Git operations performant and efficient, GitKraken has grown into a robust toolset for individual developers and scaling Agile DevOps teams alike. Our tools and Git training resources make it easy to onboard developers to Git and have them contributing easily and safely from day one.
Features, like interactive pull request management, which allows devs to review, approve or comment on, edit, and merge PRs directly in-app without context switching, or predictive merge conflict alerts, that notify users when two developers are working on the same file at the same time, are truly transformative and groundbreaking in the world of Git and team collaboration.
Hand in hand with developer productivity is the ability to conveniently integrate with other tools in your tech stack. GitKraken makes the process of connecting to repositories on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps seamless and secure, and gives users the ability to integrate with issue tracking systems including Jira, Trello, GitHub, GitLab, and GitKraken Boards to manage issues without context switching.
GitKraken is on a mission to make Git easier, safer and more productive across multiple surfaces that development teams use. Stay tuned for what’s next as we continue to rapidly develop and release new features and products!
